Mark E Juhl, MD

Dr. Mark Juhl is a Dermatologist and Mohs surgeon based in Minden, NV. He is dual board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and a member of the American Society of Mohs Surgery. He relocated to Northern Nevada in 2021 and is enjoying serving the greater Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe area.

Dr. Juhl received his MD from the University of Illinois at Chicago graduating in 2015. He remained at the University of Illinois at Chicago for his residency training serving as Chief Resident his final year. Following residency he moved to Southern California working in Newport Beach and Yorba Linda. He continued training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery with Alexander Miller, MD, former president of the American Society for Mohs Surgery. In addition to training with Dr. Miller, Dr. Juhl trained with several plastic surgeons in Mohs reconstruction in the Newport Beach office. Dr. Juhl has published more than 10 peer reviewed articles and presented at several national and international dermatology conferences.

A native of the land of 10,000 lakes (Minnesota), Dr. Juhl appreciates access to nature and freshwater in his free time. He moved to Nevada for access to Skiing, Hiking, Boating and taking Ripley, his yellow lab, on walks and to the dog park.

Todd A Helfman, MD

Before moving to Minden Dermatology, Dr. Todd Helfman gained his Phi Beta Kappa undergraduate degree from Cornell University, after which he attended Louis University Medical School and Brown University (for an internal medicine internship). He then completed a Dermatology Residency at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Dr. Helfman has been board certified in dermatology and a member of the American Academy of Dermatology since finishing his residency in 1997.

Dr Helfman founded and ran The Charlotte Skin Institute in Charlotte, NC from 1999 until 2016. He and his staff have earned praise for their caring and compassionate manner and the outstanding quality of treatment received over the years.

Shelby Real, PA-C

Physician Assistant

Shelby Real is a nationally certified physician assistant originally from Augusta, Georgia. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Mississippi and went on to complete her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Augusta University in 2018. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is licensed to practice in the state of Nevada.

After completing her education, Shelby moved to Nevada to fulfill her dream of living in the mountains. She has embraced the active lifestyle of northern Nevada and enjoys skiing, hiking, and spending beach days in Lake Tahoe with her husband and their dogs.

Shelby is proud to be a part of the Alpine Dermatology team, where she is dedicated to delivering compassionate, high-quality care and helping patients achieve the best possible outcomes.
